Galapagos is about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. We flew there from Quito, then boarded the yacht Angelito 1, where we lived for 8 days, sharing a room with two beds and a shower. Felt wonderfully luxurious. The yacht held 14 other tourists, of whom 8 left half way through and were replaced by 8 others. Besides our guide, there was also the yacht captain and his crew of 5.

This map shows the route we followed. Much of the travel was done at night, while we slept.

Day 11 [Sun]: 3/22/2015

We get to see our first shark from the boat

Day 12 [Mon]: 3/23/2015

A baby sea lion nursing and a baby probably no longer with a mother. If another does not adopt him, which is not likely, he will die. So sad.

Video. [8 Sec]: Alan and Annie compete to see who can run up a long incline the fastest. Turns out a 19 year old can pretty much leave behind a guy in his 50's, as the video shows.

The island's volcanic origins show pretty clearly below.

Video. [58 Sec]: We see penguins in Galapagos.

Video. [58 Sec]: Sunset from the boat was quite pretty, as this video shows.

Day 13 [Tue]: 3/24/2015

Video. [18 sec]: A shark swims near our boat.

Video. [28 sec]: Male frigate birds put on a colorful display.

Day 14 [Wed]: 3/25/2015

Video. [1:31 min]: Lots of iguanas enjoying the surf.

Video. [39 sec]: This video and the next 3 shows lots of dolphins swimming near our moving boat.

Video. [54 sec]: Shows how fast they go.
Video. [1:04 min]: Dolphins and, briefly, a sea turtle.

Day 16 [Fri]: 3/27/2015

Video. [23 sec]: There was going to be some pretty heavy surf to get through to get to shore.
Video. [44 sec]: And here we are getting through the surf.

Video. [48 sec]: The kid dolphins obviously totally enjoyed playing around.

An injured sea lion and iguanas
