Hike Sugarloaf Ridge State Park
Sonoma County, California - January 13, 2026
4 Miles, 600 ft Elevation Gain
Reenie and Bob

Below is a map of our hike from Robert Ferguson Observatory, across meadows and up to the first picnic table on the Brushy Peaks trail (where the blue dot appears). We start at an elevation of 1,286 ft and climb to 1,873 ft, so 587 ft elevation gain plus ups and downs and lunch time cross-country walk. The weather was absolutely perfect for a hike - blue skies and high around 60 degrees. Unlike most of our hikes, neither of us used a hiking pole. Bob did remember on this hike to bring his hiking boots for both feet not two right foot ones as he has done in the past. We both thought of our friend Adele who long ago in 2016 did this very same hike with us - she was in her 80's at the time. In the picture below Adele is standing between Reenie and Reenie's friend Yvonne (from South Africa).
