Hike On Pythian Road, Mount Hood and Pond Trails Sonoma County, California - March 10, 2025 ~5 Miles, 1,100' Elevation Gain Reenie and Bob
We drove up to the Pythian parking lot trail head (a ten minute drive), put on our boots and daypacks, and started hiking up Pythian Rd. It was a cool (about 50 degrees), sunny day in the morning and warmed to about 70 by the afternoon. Perfect for a hike. Here's the route we followed, red going up and blue coming back. About 5 miles.
After about a half hour we cross a stream that we have crossed many times before which creates a small waterfall. The road gets steep and Reenie poses for a picture.
Having reached our high point at the junction to Orchard Meadow, we turn back, heading to the picnic table at Blue Heron Pond, where we will eat the lunch prepared by Reenie.
