We took this hike on a very warm day (in the 90's), so we started early. Other than seeing a small group of people in the distance on a trail we did not take, we had the hike to ourselves. Bob was very surprised at how steep some of the trails were. He and Reenie had been here years ago, but Bob had forgotten. Reenie had not.
Given the California drought, we were expecting the one creek we would walk over to be dry, but it was running fine. Fortunately, it had boards to walk over. We hiked down one path that we remembered led to a house. The house was no longer there, only a small shed. The gate indicating the entrance to the private property now warned there was a surveillance camera operating. So we did not climb over.
It was getting near lunch time, so we hiked back up the trail a bit, saw a copse of trees offering shade, and walked through tall grass to enjoy a picnic including tasty sandwiches prepared by Reenie.
After the picnic we hiked back to the car in very hot weather. Although there were almost no flowers in the park, we did see a very few on the trail.
The parking lot temperature was 98 degrees according to the car. [It was only 92 degrees back home.]
The photos below were taken by Reenie and Bob.
