We arrived too early to check into our room, so got crab sandwiches and went up to Bodega Head.
Walked down to the beach at Bodega Head and found an alternative to our motel room (but decided to stick with the motel), then walked along the ridge above that beach, where neither of us had been before.
Got our room at the motel (actually, Inn), which had a view not only of Bodega Bay, but of cows in a pasture - perfect!
Day 2, Wednesday, September 9
Bodega Bay piers and Salmon Beach
Highlights
We had power in the morning and for the next day, while power was out back in Santa Rosa.
So many pelicans.
We visit a small wharf that we had not seen before and find several large, carved wood animals, including a whale with baby.
At Salmon Beach there are plovers and sea gulls in quantity, along with piles of seaweed and clams.
A seagull claims a crab on the beach and will not allow any other seagull near, except for one very dark seagull that we presume is her child.
Quite a few surfers are out among the waves.
We found another beach house, making us think of Adele and her very upscale beach house where she and Bob had eaten lunch in the past on another part of Salmon Beach, but again decided to stick to our motel room.
Back at the motel, Shirley goes outside to get photos of it, including a closeup with Bob standing in the window, while Bob stands waiting in the wrong place for the photo.
Day 3, Thursday, September 10
Bodega Bay to Santa Rosa - We take a final look out our window to the smokey, grey skies and head home.
