Missouri Senator John Loudon replied to an email from Debra and Ben Rubin of Leawood, KS, saying that if a draft bill currently being worked on in the Senate Insurance and Housing Committee were to pass to the Senate floor, he would support it.
NeighborhoodNet has been receiving and publishing emails about shoddy home construction and questionable financing practices from home buyers in both Kansas and Missouri, along with letters describing the situation in other states. I believe our government agencies, including legislators, should be going out of their way to protect citizens from abuses.
[If you wish to voice your opinions, these email addresses go to Kansas legislators (badhome@nbrhd.net) and Missouri legislators (badhomemo@nbrhd.net). The email addresses were established by NeighborhoodNet and HADD to ease communications between citizens and public officials. NeighborhoodNet also receives the letters, but will not publish them without the author's permission].
Here is the letter sent by Senator Loudon:

Dear Ms. Rubin,
Thank you for writing in regards to Senate Bill 635, which creates
statutory warranties for homeowners and prevents home solicitors from
engaging in certain practices.
Since I have purchased homes myself, both with and without warranties, I
know the importance of such proposed legislation in regulating illegal
sales practices. Therefore, I would have no problem supporting Senate
Bill
635, except for it remains in the Senate Insurance and Housing Committee
where we are working out certain drafting problems. Thus, my support is
based on whether or not the bill passes committee and reaches the Senate
Floor.
Again, thank you for your interest in State Government. If you have any
other questions or concerns feel free to contact my office.
Very truly yours,
John Loudon
7th Senatorial District"
