The re-zoning application (REZ-0023) for the SE Corner of 159th and Metcalf was to be considered by the Overland Park, KS, Planning Commission on November 12, 2007. However, the developer is expected to submit revised plans later this week in response to Overland Park Planning Staff comments. The Planning Commission will now include the application on the agenda for the November 26 meeting.
The application site plan submitted by the developer called for 480,000+ square feet of retail along with R-3 zoning, since raised to the more dense R-5 zoning. It would be anchored by a 170,000+ sq ft Lowe's.
The Master Plan for the 80 acre tract calls for residential, low density zoning with no commercial or office on the entire tract. The tract abuts Blue Valley Riding neighborhood (1+ acre lots) and is across 159th street from Willowbend (R-1 zoning).
