The humorist/newsman Keith Olberman on MSNBC closes every broadcast every night at dinnertime with his countdown message:
"It's been {1243 days} since President Bush declared MISSION ACCOMPLISHED IN IRAQ."
One of the greatest lines written was by the philosopher George Santayana in 1905:
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
Just because the Wizards were driven off the land at 159th St. on Nov. 7 and again on Nov. 11, doesn't mean the surrounding neighborhoods are safe from inappropriate development.
Cities, and especially arrogant, aggressive ones like Overland Park, are like pit bulls.
Once they smell blood, they will attack again.
All government in Johnson County is driven by contributions from developers and development attorneys and bond bankers, because "real people" don't write checks, and their energies flag after even a brief skirmish.
