Major League Soccer (MLS) Pads Its Attendance Figures
Says San Diego Union Tribune

October 28, 2006

"Average Attendance" for a Wizards game is listed as 12,000 by the CSL Feasiblity Study which supports this soccer project. (p. iv, CSL study) The following article states that MLS attendance figures are suspect.

An alert reader of NeighborhoodNet sent us this news item written by Mark Ziegler for The San Diego Union Tribune. The story is entitled "MythInfomation" and makes for some interesting reading. Be sure to read farther down into the story for Ziegler's comments on MLS soccer attendance.

Ziegler states:

"Like most leagues, MLS reports tickets distributed as actual attendance. Yet few, if any, leagues have a greater disparity between what is announced and what is actually in the stadium."

It would be nice to know the actual attendance at Wizard's games before tax payers build them a large stadium.
