NeighborhoodNet requested answers to several questions in a telephone interview with Mr. Michael Meadors, Director of Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department [JCPRD]. In answer to question 2 about the basis for saying there are 46,000 soccer kids in Johnson County, JCPRD provided the table shown below.
JCPRD noted in its answer that this table counts participants, not individuals. To determine the number of individuals, JCPRD says decrease the following participant count by 40%.
Mr. Meadors' entire table was converted to web page format from an excel spreadsheet. All content is as JCPRD provided.
The following article gives a complete discussion of the issues associated with this table: "10/7/2006 - 46,000 Disappearing Soccer Kids, Round 2: Parks & Rec Drops Count By 40%, May Have More Errors"
