December 7, 1997:

First results: Poll is running 90% against, 10% for sewers. Dennis Runser of Blue Valley Riding stopped by the Sewer District Office on Friday, December 5, and was told about 100 of the 300+ households had returned their cards.

Johnson County Sewer District has mailed a blue sewer preference post card to all residents living between Metcalf and Nall from 159th to 167th Streets - Section S17. If you live in this area, you should have received a card.

Please indicate on this card how you feel about paying to have a sewer to replace your septic tank. If you check "Yes" that means that you want a sewer.

If you check "No" that means you do not want a sewer.

This vote is not binding; it is a preference poll to find out how the community feels. However, it is used by the Sewer District to decide whether to spend public funds to provide legal advice/support to someone who wants to pass around a petition in favor of sewers. A petition is legally binding and must be gotten exactly right. So it is important that you return your card.

Please check with neighbors to see if they got theirs and to urge them to return their cards.

Everyone will probably be contacted by phone about this.
