Ferguson Family Bibles: 1843 and 1861 Bibles
The following images show pages from two Ferguson family bibles from the 1800's.
The first bible is "THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THE POLYGLOTT BIBLE,.." "Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1833.." and "PUBLISHED BY PEABODY & DANIELL, AND D. KIMBALL, 1843."
This bible contains Orbeton and Ferguson family genealogical entries from 1855 to 1898.
The second bible is 'THE FAMILY BIBLE, CONTAINING THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS,.." "Entered according to Act of Congress, in the year 1861" and "PUBLISHED BY THE AMERICAN TRACT SOCIETY, 150 NASSAU-STREET, NEW YORK"
This bible has John Ferguson and Mary Jane Ferguson written on the first page and a marriage entry for the two of them by Rev. John Cameron July 13, 1859. It also has entries of Births of 9 children from 1861 to 1880, all written in one cursive style, with a final entry for Letitha (sp?) Catherine Isabel Ferguson in 1877 in another hand writing.
